Acanthus is native to the Mediterranean and its beautiful leaf shape has become a motif in various art forms, but its flowers are also spectacular.
The flower spikes grow rapidly and bloom from the bottom in the second half of May.
The reddish-purple colour of the calyx and the white of the petals is beautiful.
After flowering, it is used as a unique dried flower.

ガクの赤紫と花びらの白がきれいです。

The bluebell garden turned blue with bluebell flowers in mid-April, but the leaves will soon wither away.

それに代わって、五月になって俄然元気に育ったドクダミが純白の花を咲かせ始めました。四枚花びらの一重の花がほとんどですが、一部に八重咲の品種も咲いています。
油断すると他の植物が追い出されるほど旺盛な成長力なので、時々抜いたりして勢いをコントロールする必要があります。

At the end of May, the foxgloves are almost finished flowering and many seeds are maturing. The roses are also almost finished. The flax flowers are almost finished and many seeds are maturing.
And there are now many corn poppies and cornflowers in bloom.
In June, we collect the seeds of digitalis and flax, as well as of poppies and cornflowers.
In the vegetable raised beds, asparagus is producing lots of flowers and berries after many spring shoots have been harvested. Potatoes are flowering, dwarf tomato plants are growing and soy bean seeds have germinated.
五月の終わりにはジギタリスの花もほとんど終わりで、沢山の種が成熟してきています。バラもほぼ終わっています。亜麻の花もほとんど終わって、沢山の種をつけています。
そして、ヒナゲシとヤグルマギクが今たくさん咲いています。
六月になるとジギタリスや亜麻、そしてヒナゲシやヤグルマギクの種を採ります。
野菜のレイズドベッドでは、沢山春から新芽を収穫したアスパラガスがたくさん花や実をつけています。ジャガイモが花を咲かせ、矮性トマトの苗が育ち、枝豆の種が発芽しました。

Passion flower will be pleasing to the eye with new flowers every day from now on during the summer months. Each flower blooms for one day only and then shuts down the next day. Just below the first flower, three large, swollen buds can be seen. They will probably continue to flower tomorrow and the day after.
トケイソウはこれから夏の間に毎日新しい花を咲かせて目を楽しませてくれます。一つ一つの花は一日だけ開花して、翌日にはしぼみます。一番花のすぐ下には、大きく膨らんだ蕾が三つほど見えます。おそらく明日、明後日と咲き継いでいきます。
Artichoke flower buds have emerged again this year in corners of the garden. Behind the arbour sheet above the bluebell garden, there are several buds on a variety with a pointed bracts.
On the other side of the white fence, a variety with a split-tipped bracts has buds.
One of the seedlings, grown from seeds collected last summer, has produced a small bud. The other seedlings do not seem to have buds yet this year.
今年も庭の片隅でアーティチョークの花の蕾が出てきました。ブルーベルの庭の上にあるアーバーシートの奥では先の尖ったガクをもつ品種がいくつも蕾をつけています。
白いフェンスの向こう側には先端が割れたガクをもつ品種が蕾をつけています。
去年の夏に採取した種を蒔いて育てた苗は、ひとつは小さな蕾をつけました。ほかの苗はまだ今年は蕾はなさそうです。
Following the beautifully blooming brick wall climbing roses a step ahead, many of the shrub roses on the sleeper steps (Scarborough Fair, Leonardo da Vinci, Mary Rose, etc.) are now in bloom.
The arch climbing rose, Angela, is also still beautiful.
At the top of the steps there are also many Pierre de Ronsard in bloom.
The white roses by the house wall, Summer Snow, are also continuing to flower.
And in front of the white fence, Mary Delaney and The Pilgrim are in bloom.
The garden is still busy with roses.
一足先に美しく咲いたレンガ塀のつるバラに続いて、枕木の階段のシュラブローズ（スキャボロフェア、レオナルドダヴィンチ、メアリーロースなど）がたくさん咲いてきています。
アーチのつるバラ、アンジェラもまだまだ綺麗です。
階段の一番上ではピエールドゥロンサールも沢山咲いています。
家の壁際の白バラ、サマースノーも咲き続けています。
そして、白いフェンスの前では、メアリーディレイニーやザピルグリムが咲いています。
まだまだ庭はバラで賑やかです。
The herb beds are lively in May. The pink flowers of rose geraniums are in profusion, accented by the bright red flowers of cherry sage and the delicate flowers of chamomile give a soft impression to the garden. Pruning is needed before the onset of the rainy season.
五月のハーブ畑は賑やかです。ローズゼラニウムのピンクの花が沢山さいてきて、チェリーセージの真っ赤な花がアクセントになり、カモミールの繊細な花が庭に軟らかい印象を与えてくれます。梅雨入り前には剪定が必要です。
