私が初めて買ったJoan Baezのﾚｺｰﾄﾞは定価５００円､ｳﾞｧﾝｶﾞｰﾄﾞの雨を汚したのは誰/勝利を我らに/ﾄﾞﾅ･ﾄﾞﾅ/ﾘﾊﾟﾌﾞﾘｯｸ賛歌の４曲入ったｺﾝﾊﾟｸﾄ盤でした。当時は高校生でLPﾚｺｰﾄﾞは買えずこれが目一杯の贅沢でした。そして､Joan Baezは1962年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”In Concert”にこの曲を収録しました。
曲は1962年、Malvina Reynolds（ﾏﾙｳﾞｨﾅ･ﾚｲﾉﾙｽﾞ）が最初に Rain Song（雨の歌）と題し、元々はｽﾄﾛﾝﾁｳﾑ90を空中に置いて地上核実験を止めるｷｬﾝﾍﾟｰﾝの一環として書いたものです。その一年後、ｹﾈﾃﾞｨ大統領は米国､英国､ｿ連間での核兵器の一部の実験を禁止する､部分的核実験禁止条約に署名しました。なお、Malvina Reynoldsは196７年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”Sings The Truth”に曲を収録､､The Searchersは1964年ｼﾝｸﾞﾙをﾘﾘｰｽ ,1965年に米国ﾋﾞﾙﾎﾞｰﾄﾞHot 100､29位英国のｼﾝｸﾞﾙ・ﾁｬｰﾄ13位を記録しました。The Seekersはｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”1964年The New Seekers”､Marianne Faithfullは1965年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”Marianne Faithfull”、ｲｽﾗｴﾙの夫妻ﾃﾞｭｵ、 Esther & Abi Ofarim（ｴｽﾀｰ&ｱﾋﾞ・ｵﾌｧﾘﾑ）は1965年､ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ”Neue Songs Der Welt”に収録しました。
