The graph above shows the changes in the number of property crimes (e.g. theft) and violent crimes in the USA from 1992 – 2002.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The graph shows the crime rate in the US in terms of property crimes and violent crimes from 1982 – 2002.

According to the first line graph, the number of property crimes in the US for the period hovered around the 3000-4000 range. After remaining steady at about 4000 from 1982 to 1986, the number of property crimes dipped continuously for eight years straight and finally landed at a bit under 3000 in 1994. After that, however, the number rose by 1998, and fell slowly to exactly 3000 in 2002.

The second line graph, on the other hand, tells us that the rate of violent crimes is lower than that of property crimes. With a peak of  a little over 600 in 1998, the number fluctuated under 600 over the period and reached a trough of around 300 in 1994. Finally, it ended the period around 550 crimes in 2002.

The graph show us that there are more property crimes than violent crimes in the US.
