アフリカ　ボツワナのツォディロの丘は「神々の山」「ささやきの岩」と呼ばれるサン族の聖地である。
この周辺では多くの岩絵が発見されているが、その丘の洞窟の中で、巨大なパイソン(大蛇)のような岩が発見された。
長さは６ｍ高さは２ｍで蛇の頭部と胴体部分には人工的な蛇の鱗模様が刻まれている。
儀式はシャーマンが中心に行っていたと考えられる。

サン族の神話では、人類はパイソン(大蛇)の子孫であることと、この辺りはかつては水のある窪地であったが干上がりパイソンが水を求めて回転したことで、ツォディロの丘が創られたと語られている。

夜にこの大蛇の岩をロウソクで照らすと、鱗の陰影でまるで大蛇が動いているように見えるそうである。
大蛇の信仰は世界中にあるが、発見されている中ではこの大蛇の巨石信仰は最も古い７万年前のものである。

サン族の生活地域と、アフリカの龍蛇の地上絵はほぼ同じ地域に広がり、ナミビアから南アフリカの砂漠地帯かけての広大な地域を鱗模様と渦巻きが埋め尽くしている。

フォン族の創成神話ではダンバラ・ウェドゥ（Dambala We`do）：ラダの神格たち（あるいは精霊たち）の長。蛇の化身。が7千のとぐろを巻いて世界を創造したとされているが、このような世界蛇が回転して世界を創造したという神話は世界中に見られる。

日本でも蛇の岩を信仰する例は多くあり、南伊豆町蛇石付近を流れる青野川上流には、その名も蛇石と呼ばれる蛇の形をした岩体がある。地域の伝説によると、山のうえの大池に棲んでいた巨大なヘビが、2.4km離れた川に水を飲みにきた時に石にされてしまい、川には頭部の、大池にはしっぽの形をした岩が残ったという。
この不思議な形をした岩がどのようにしてできたのかは（科学的には）わかっていない。

また、滋賀県彦根市清崎町の荒神山南東の山中にも「へび岩」がある。
約１３００年前に荒神山山頂に奥山寺（現在は荒神山神社）が創建された以前からある岩。長さ約６ｍ×高さ約３ｍ×幅約３ｍの「親」岩の下に、３分の１ほどの大きさの「子」岩がある。インドから大日如来が大蛇に乗って湖国に訪れ、帰り際にそのヘビを置いていったという伝説が残っている。毎年12月中旬に地元の人たちによってしめ縄が取り替えられ、大晦日に宮司が鏡もちを祀っている。

地上絵に見られる幾何学模様も、渦巻き、鱗、三角連続紋、波、、∞(無限、又はウロボロス)二重らせん、渦素描等、蛇や水に関係のある模様が多く見られる。

次にグーグルアースで見られる南西アフリカでの奇妙なものについて紹介する。

＠ナミビアの続かない古代の道路

砂漠に点在する町と町をつなぐ古代の道路もあるが、中には全く用途の分からない古代の道路も存在する。
岩山や崖などの高低差は全く考えず、とても人が歩けそうに無い地域に直線のラインが引かれている。ずっと辿っていくと、途中でぷっつりと無くなっている。この道路のように平行にあったり、真っすぐ通れない場所は迂回路があとになって作られている。これは祭祀用のラインではないかという説もあり、大地の精気が通る道、レイラインではないかとも言われている。北アメリカのインディアン居住地域、南米、モンゴル、アラビア半島などの岩石砂漠地帯や砂漠地帯、中国の山岳地帯でも見られる。

ペトログラフと一緒に良く見られる穴。日本でも盃状穴として古墳の石棺や神社などで見られる祭祀に関係のある穴。
北欧では、この穴にバターを詰めておくと子どもの病気が良くなるとか、牛の乳の出がよくなるという言い伝えがあり、日本の盃状穴も中に硬貨を入れて願掛けをしたり、中に溜まった雨水をイボや目に塗ると症状が良くなるという伝承が今も残っている。

＠ダブルの渦巻き模様
ナミビアの地上絵だけに見られる双頭渦文。銅鐸などによく見られる模様。
二匹の蛇を表し、陰陽ともいえる。

＠トリプルの渦巻き模様
さらに渦巻きが３こ囲まれている渦巻き模様。
先史時代の文献は色々見ているが、これと同じ地上絵の幾何学模様ものは今のところ見たことがない。関連のありそうな文献を目下探している。

＠広大な範囲に広がっている鱗模様。
このような画像を見ると、やはり世界は蛇の体でできているのかなと考える。

＠道路を利用した連続三角紋。三角紋は日本の装飾古墳や海外の民族衣装など、世界中で見られる幾何学模様だが、蛇の鱗、歯、水を泳ぐ蛇の波を表現する神紋である。同様に道路を利用した連続三角紋も世界中で見られる。
周りには渦巻き模様、鱗模様、波、丸などが見られる。

＠ナミビアの緑の発光体。
ペルーやアルゼンチンでよく見られる緑、青、赤の発光体と同じ物と思われる。

＠ナミビアの巨大スパイラル
三角のラインに囲まれた地点に薄くなっているが巨大なスパイラルが描かれている。周りは楕円形のスパイラルが囲んでいる。渦巻き模様は、大きなものほど真円になっている。三角で囲まれている構図はカラハリのフェルヌークパンの渦巻き群と同様である。

The hill of African Tsodilo of Botswana is a sacred place for sun groups called the "crowd of gods" "rock of the whispers".

In addition, there is "the snake rock" in the mountains of the Koujinyama southeast of Kiyosakicho, Hikone-shi, Shiga.
The old rock that Okuyama temple (now Koujinyama Shrine) was founded on the Koujinyama mountaintop approximately 1,300 years ago. Under the "parent" rock of approximately 6m in length X approximately 3m in height X approximately 3m in width, there is a "child" rock of the size approximately a one-third. Dainichi Buddha visits the lake country on a large snake from India, and the legend that left the snake on a return remains. Shinto straw festoons are changed in the middle of December by local people, and a chief priest enshrines a mirror rice cake every year on the last day of the year.

@ The Namibian ancient road which does not follow
There is the ancient road connecting a town and the town which the desert is dotted with, but the ancient road where does not know the use at all exists among them.

@ Huge spiral of Namibia
It becomes thin, but a huge spiral is drawn on the point among three angles of lines. An elliptic spiral surrounds the circumference. The eddy design becomes the perfect circle as a big thing. The composition surrounded with a triangle is similar to eddy group of フェルヌークパン of the empty tension.
