If you live in Tokyo, you've probably noticed something a little strange.
Spring has decided to sit this year out, leaving summer to jump ahead a few months and take its place.
I remember having at least a couple of weeks of spring in years past, but I don't ever remember a jump this drastic.
Up until the cherry blossoms began blooming (and even a bit into their bloom), it still basically felt like winter .
I still wore my heavy winter coat whenever I went outside.
Even when it was warming up a little, some rainstorms blew into Tokyo and chilled things down again.
But once those storms left, and the cherry blossoms fell to the ground, it noticeably got much warmer .
Even hot .
I've noticed many people out with short-sleeve shirts .
It's a little early for that, I'd think, considering that just a two weeks or so ago I was wearing my winter coat
I don't like cold weather, but I'm no fan of hot weather, either .
The end of winter means I can dress with fewer layers (always a plus) and take occasional evening strolls.
As much as I dislike those blistering hot summer days, the evenings are never that bad, and are actually quite enjoyable .
There's almost nothing enjoyable about winter.
But I'd like to have spring hang around a while longer.
I knew something was up when I almost immediately went from using my heater to using my air-conditioning .
That transition is way too fast.
I should have a few weeks of giving it a well deserved rest.
But it looks like that will be skipped, unfortunately.
Oh, well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a nice spring .
We'll see what happens
