Hi everyone ,
My name's Laurence and I joined English Avenue at the beginning of May.
Since joining I've had the pleasure to meet some of the students and staff at the school .
I come from a small city in England called Bath.
It's a beautiful, historic city and is famous for its hot springs , Roman period baths and Georgian architecture.
Many tourists come to visit the Roman baths and the Thermae Spa that opened to the public in August 2006, ending a 28-year period during which the waters remained unavailable for bathing.
However, the style of bathing is different from Japan as users are required to wear swimming costumes in a mixed environment.
If you ever visit the U.K., I highly recommend a visit to the historic Roman baths and the modern Thermae spa
The location is also close to Stonehenge and the beautiful Cotswolds .
I moved to London in 1997 to study Sociology at the University of London and, later, accounting.
I lived in London for about 12 years and, during that time, met my wife who is Japanese .
We then decided to move to Tokyo and I changed my career path to teaching English .
I've been living in Tokyo for almost 8 years now - firstly in Musashikoyama and then Shibuya.
My hobbies are photography , watching films, listening to music, playing futsal and travel .
When I moved to Shibuya in 2011, I started to get more interested in photography using the iPhone camera .
What I loved about Shibuya was how beautiful it looked in the rain at night with all the neon reflecting.
Over the last few years I've become more obsessed with photography and I was lucky last year when I was contacted by Apple about working on their new campaign for the iPhone7.
The campaign launched internationally in February this year and it was great to see my photos on billboards all over the world.
Some of the video footage was also put together into a commercial on Japanese tv
For the time being I plan to continue living in Japan as I have an eight month daughter and one of the things I really like about Japan is how safe it is.
There are many places I want to visit in Japan and, hopefully next year, I can start visiting a few of them
Thanks,
by Laurence
