PHILIPPINES: SIARGAO: ISLAND HOPPING: GUYAM ISLAND, NAKED ISLAND, DAKU ISLAND

July 28, 2018

SIARGAO—A tear drop shaped island located in the northeastern part of Mindanao on the border of Pacific Ocean. Serves as a premier surfing destination in the Philippines. Not only the mighty waves are the best things to chase in Siargao but also its nearby islands like Guyam Island, Naked island and Daku Island which are blessed with untouched white sand beaches and a heaven for beach bums.

I booked my island hopping tour at Primitivo Art Village for 900Php/person. The tour included the foods for our lunch and entrance fees.

The tour started around 8 in the morning. I was with my significant other, a couple from Denmark, a tour guide and the captain of our banca (a small boat that can usually be found and used by fishermen in the Philippines).

Guyam Island, Siargao, Philippines

We first went to Guyam Island—an islet that has a small stretch of powdery-white sand and surrounded by packed of coconut trees. It also has interesting rock formations, the one facing the Pacific Ocean that is also perfect for snorkeling.

The island is precisely a miniature tropical paradise and a perfect spot for a peaceful and romantic getaway. Together with the couple who I am and my significant other are with on the boat spent the 30 minutes roaming around the island and felt that we owned the island by ourselves. There are some people living there and having a simple lifestyle.

Naked Island, Siargao, Philippines

Naked Island—as the name suggests, this island is naked (but no naked people in case you were wondering) . A pure stretch of white sand and no vegetation on or around the area. It is surrounded by pristine water and calm waves.

During high tide, the island becomes smaller because other parts sink a few meters below sea level. This island is perfect for sun bathing and also to get tan. So better prepare your sunscreen and hat if you don't wanna get burned by the heat of the sun.

Me, myself got sunburnt after taking few pictures facing directly to the sunlight even though I didn't deep my body in the water. But I am not regretting that, I still love and proud of my color.

Before reaching the island, we stopped by a snorkeling spot where we enjoyed seeing many kinds of fishes and a huge corals and some clams.

Daku Island, Siargao, Philippines

For the last stop, the Daku Island—renowned for tourists and is truly a paradise for everyone. Daku itself means “large or big” and to compare, this island is bigger than all the island we visited on that day. It is surrounded by crystal clear water and coconut trees which gives shade to the cottages and makes oneself feel relaxed.

We also had our lunch at Daku Island. We are served with grilled tuna/blue marlin, chicken adobo and some fruits.

We also got to see some fishermen brought two huge blue marlin fresh from the water.
At around 2 in the afternoon, we headed back to General Luna.
