Hit-chanは元気でございます。
I'm doing pretty good.
さて、新しい年に入って間もない1月5日、お陰様でHit-chanは37歳になりました！（拍手）
So, shortly after the new year started, Jan. 5th was my 37th birthday! (Applause!)
誕生日と言ってもコロナもありますし、特別どこかに出かけたりという事はなかったのですが、夕食はちょっと贅沢して近くの寿司レストランのお寿司をテイクアウトしました。
Even if it was my birthday, we didn't go out somewhere special or something especially because of COVID-19, but still had a fancy take-out sushi dinner to celebrate my special day.
これにヒラメも頼んだんですが、残念ながら入荷できなかったようで今回はパス。（確か前回もヒラメは入荷されてなかったなぁ。）
This was my plate. I ordered flounder too, but they didn't get it that day. (I remember that they didn't get flounder last time either.)
こちらはAndyっちのプレート。酢飯ですぐにお腹いっぱいになるAndyっちの注文は握りが少しで、刺身多めです。
This was Andy's plate. He always gets full with the rice pieces of Nigiri style sushi, so he ordered more Sashimi instead of Nigiri this time.
甘エビを頼むと殻を揚げて付けてくれます。これがサクサクで美味しい！
When you order sweet shrimp, they kindly deep fry the shell which turns crispy and tasty!
めいはいつもと変わらず普通のご飯。好物のソーセージをいつもの2倍あげたので、これはこれで特別ディナー。(笑)
I fixed May-chan's food as usual. Though, I gave her 2 pieces of sausage which was as twice as usual, so the dinner became somehow special to her too at least. Haha
誕生日の1ヶ月くらい前から「誕生日ディナーはどうしよっかなぁ？」と考えており（暇人～。笑）、途中、「家で焼肉も良いなぁ。」と思ったんですが、結局、寿司という定番の特別ディナーに落ち着きました。
I actually had started thinking about my birthday dinner from about a month before my birthday and my cravings once leaned toward Korean BBQ, but I ended up coming to my very usual special meal, sushi, in the end.
美味しいディナーの後は早速プレゼント開封式！
After the yummy fancy dinner, it's time to open the presents!
まずはめいからのカード。一緒に開けて読みました。
A card from May-chan. I opened it with May-chan.
次にAndyっちからのカード。いつものように感謝の言葉から始まり、「2021年は良い年になる気がするし、また一緒に日本に行くのを楽しみにしてるよ。」という言葉が綴ってありました。
Then a card from Andy. Just as always, he started from appreciative words to me and then shared his feelings like, "I have a good feeling about 2021. I'm looking forward to going back to Japan again!" (Yeah, I wish we could go to Japan again ASAP too!!)
めいからのプレゼントを開封。あ、ハイブランド、ティファニーの箱！
This was from May-chan. Oh, it's a Tiffany box!
中身はタンブラー！ティファニーじゃないよ、YETIっていうブランド。ティファニーは箱だけ～！(笑)
Did she get something from Tiffany for me?? Oh, it was just a box. Haha. The inside was a YETI tumbler which I wanted more than anything from Tiffany!
実は上の写真で左の紺色っぽい方はAndyっちが仕事経由でもらったもので、すごく保温効果が高くて、ここ最近毎日コーヒーを入れて使っていたんですが、あまりにも毎日使うので、もう1個同じのがあれば急いで洗う必要がなくなるから良いなぁと思っていたんです。
In the picture above, the dark gray one on the left is actually Andy's. He got it from a vender at work, but I've used it to drink coffee every single day since the tumbler is so well made to keep the temperature of drink for a few hours at least. I really use the tumbler every day, so I started wanting a backup one so that I don't have to rush to hand wash it to brew a new drip.
新しい右のものは写真では分かりにくいですが、綺麗なライトブルーでHit-chanの好きな色で嬉しかったです。
The new one is the light blue one on the right in the picture. It's kind of hard to see it, but the color is very pretty and I like it a lot.
次にAndyっちからのプレゼント。結構大きめ。
Okay, the next one was from Andy. It's kind of big.
中身はクラフトの時に使える工作マットでした。
The inside was a craft mat.
でね、実はHit-chan、このプレゼントを見た時に「え、AndyっちHit-chanの心読めたの？？！！」っていうくらいにかなりビックリしました。
To be honest with you, this present surprised me a lot. "Hon, how could you read my mind??!!"
前回の記事でも書いたんですが、Hit-chan、ここ数年ちょっとしたクラフト作業をする事があり、数年前にパパママからクリスマスプレゼントで工作マットをもらい、それをかなり愛用しているんです。
I shared a little bit on the last article, but I actually do some craft works from some years ago. On my craft projects, I always use this craft mat which I got from Dad&Mom a couple of Christmases ago.
ですが、そのマットのサイズが少し小さめで、大きな段ボールを切ったりする時用にもう少し大きなマットがあれば便利だなぁと思っていました。
Though, the more I used the mat, the more I wanted a bigger one. I got to feel like getting a bigger size mat so that I could cut big cardboards or something on it.
なので、この前のクリスマス用にクリスマスリストを作った時に工作マットが欲しいと書いたんですが、その時に欲しいと言って書いたサイズが、何ともう既に持っている工作マットと同じ小さめのサイズ。（一応、サイズ間違えないようにと思って測ったりしてたんですが、それでも間違えるというポンコツ。笑）
So, when I made a Christmas list before last Christmas, I put a bigger size craft mat on it. I, of course, added the specific size number on the list, but you know what, I wrote the exact same size as the one that I already had! (Yeah, I made sure to measure the size of mine, but how stupid I was! I still got it wrong. LOL)
つまり、大きめのマットが欲しいと言いながら、クリスマスリストに載せた工作マットのサイズは今持っているのと変わらない小さめのサイズ。
In more simple words, even if I said that I wanted a craft mat bigger than the one I already had, I wrote that I wanted the same size mat as the one I already had on my Christmas list.
で、この前のクリスマスに、パパママがHit-chanが書いたリスト通りのサイズの工作マットを贈ってくれたんですが、その時になってようやく「あれ、思ってたのよりも小さい！！」と自分の間違いに気づいたという訳です。
Anyways, Dad&Mom kindly got a new craft mat for me last Christmas. The mat that Dad&Mom gave me was exactly what I wrote on my Christmas list, but when I opened it, my brain recognized, "Oh wait?! Isn't this smaller than what I expected??"
とは言え、今使っているマットも少し汚れてきているし、新しくもらったマットと並べて使えば大きいものも切れるし、サイズを間違ったんですが、パパママから2枚目のマットをもらった時はそれはそれで嬉しかったんです。
Though, the old mat started getting worn out and I can put 2 mats together when I'd want to cut bigger things, so I still liked the new mat and wanted to keep it even if it was smaller than the one I'd originally wanted.
なので、Hit-chan、クリスマスリストに間違ったサイズを書いた事は自分の心に留めていただけで、一切誰にも言ってなかったんですよ。（だって、「間違ってた～！」って言ったら、パパママにも悪いなぁと思ってたし、本当に2枚目の小さめのマットも素直に有難かったしね。）
So, I didn't tell all the honest feelings about the matt to anybody, even to Andy, at all and just kept it in my mind. (To be honest with you, I didn't want Dad&Mom feel bad or something and I liked the new mat even if it was smaller than I'd expected anyways.)
なのになのに、Andyっちは妻の間違いに本能で気が付いていたんですよ
But what a big surprise! Is my hubby a psychic or something??!! Andy had noticed my mistake by instinct!!
「あれ？クリスマスリストに、“今使っているマットのサイズよりも少し大きめが欲しい”と書いてあるのに、実際欲しいと言っているマットのサイズは今持っているのとほとんど変わらないぞ！」ってね。
"Hold on a sec?? She's saying she wants a bigger mat, but the size she wrote on the list was not that different from the one that she already has!!"
なので、クリスマス前に既に大きめのマットを購入してたらしいです。
So, he'd purchased a bigger mat for me even before Christmas.
ちょっと凄くない？？？
Isn't it miraculous??!!
そんな経緯があったから、Hit-chanがこのプレゼントを開けた瞬間
That is why I made this face at the moment when I opened the present.
自然にこんな顔になりましたよ。「あなた、マジ神～！！」っていう表情。(笑)
"You're super awesomeeeeee!!!!" face is this. Haha.
めいも早速喜んで触っておりました。時々一緒にクラフト作業するからね。
May-chan was curious about the new big mat too. Yeah, May-chan and I sometimes do craft works together.
今年の誕生日もめいとAndyっちから祝ってもらい、とっても素敵な時間を過ごす事ができました。
Anyways, I'm so grateful that I could have another wonderful birthday thanks to May-chan and Andy.
一つだけ何となく気持ち的に誕生日感が少ないなぁと思ったのは、今回はケーキを買わずに「ハッピーバースデー、トゥユ～
」を歌わなかったので、ロウソクの火をふっと消す作業しなかった事です。やっぱ、あの一連の流れって誕生日感を演出してくれるんですねぇ。(笑)
There's just one thing to make my birthday less special this year, which was we didn't get a cake. We didn't buy a cake, so we didn't sing, "Happy birthday to you!" either. I didn't blow candles or make a wish either, so this experience made me realize how important it was to have a cake on birthdays. LOL
最後に、家族3人の記念撮影。今年もありがとうね。

そのマット！！！！私も欲しいです（笑）
そして、とてもおいしそうなお寿司を見て、私も誕生日にお寿司をテイクアウトしようと心に決めました。
めいちゃんも大きくなりましたね！
素敵😍なご家族でほっこり。メイちゃんも大きく別嬪さんになって来たね。
大変な時期だけど踏ん張って頑張ってね。
このマットをTacoさんが使えば、たくさんの楽しくて心温まる作品がいっぱい生まれるはず！！
特別な日には何でも食べたい物を食べられるという特権があるんですが、ミネソタだと食べたい物＝手に入る物じゃないので、結局毎年同じようなものに落ち着いてます。(笑) 少々お高くても、内陸部で美味しいお寿司を食べられる事に感謝です。
家にいる時間がかなり長くなってはいますが、みきさんのブログを拝見して色んな景色や美味しいものを疑似体験させてもらって楽しんでいます。たまに出るストレートな言葉も面白くてニヤリとしながら読んでいます。
近い内にまたラスベガスに行けるようになると良いですね！！(笑)
そしてさすがAndyっち！ちゃんと細かなところまで見てくれていますね。あとYetiのタンブラー、すごい保温力らしいですね！私も欲しいな〜。めいちゃん、ナイスチョイス！（笑）セカンドステップシリーズの続報も、楽しみにしています。ではでは！
本当、妻のバカな間違いをちゃんと見つけておいてくれるなんて、だてに10年一緒に住んでいませんねぇ。Yeti良いですよ～！いつもは冷めたコーヒーを捨てちゃうことが多かったんですが、その量が格段に減りました！
