 (4)  About Zen, conveyed to Japan

Rinzai Zen-master was the tenth successor from Bodhi Dharma. While that period in China, Buddhism was persecuted by the politics. It had been confused in political affairs. Therefore the way of his teaching had the tense atmosphere every single time. 

Rinzai’s temple had stood beside Codaga River. He taught like that. ‘The fish jumps up and downs with all might so you have to be brisk like that every time.’ He respected disciple’s active done above everything else. 

Like that Zen conveyed to Japan from China by Eisai Zen master when eight hundred years ago. They conveyed Chinese cultures simultaneously. That was the tea culture or the calligraphy method and Chinese poetry etc.

Eisai brought the seeds of tea and spread the tea culture. At that time in Zen temple they had offered a tea as medicine for the pilgrims. It became to grow the tea ceremony. Ancient Chinese culture have built the foundations of Japanese culture by making relation with our climate.
